Courtyard Residence on Del Monte
Houston, Texas
The clients behind the Courtyard residence on Del Monte were not new to the process of designing a house, and as such had cultivated a deep understanding and appreciation of well-mannered architecture. They were eager to create a house that comfortably blended into their neighborhood, which contained many houses from the 1940s with characteristically smaller footprints. We responded with a Mediterranean-inspired house, the shape of which would carefully preserve several mature live oaks while encouraging a warm and comfortable life, a life lived equally in and out-of-doors.
Recipient of 2015 John Staub Award, ICAA Texas
“Time and time again, this project has proven to be one of our most popular houses. People appreciate its inherent modesty and approachability, which make it feel like it could be their home, too.”
