The clients of Longwood Farm harbored a great fondness for English country houses and the well-groomed estates that they have long occupied, and sought to bring an element of timeless grace and tradition to the rolling landscape of the Texas Hill Country. With no small amount of acreage at our creative disposal, we transformed their land into an idyllic country seat, enhancing the natural features of the property and adding a revelatory sequence of mannered gardens that encourage comfortable transitions between the architecture and the surrounding landscape. The buildings themselves take as much inspiration from proper English manor-house as they do from the vernacular limestone structures that one dominated the surrounding Texas hillsides.
