Las Campanas
santa fe, new mexico
This residence near Santa Fe, New Mexico derives its austere fluidity from the qualities of the desert surrounding it and the architecture of the indigenous peoples who have long occupied those same lands. We sought to preserve the character of this ancient space through our new design by uplifting its relationship to the outdoors, working within the pueblo paradigm in both style and material references. Outdoors spaces and secondary structures were flanked within the confines of a low adobe-colored wall, to more effectively blend and transition our work into the greater desert landscape.
“This project was entirely tied to its region. Our first and most important thought was ‘how do you make a true New Mexican house,’ and we carried that through the design process from start to finish.”
