Seaside Avenue Residence

seaside, fl

In the renowned master-planned community of Seaside, Florida, the building code is as strict as they come. But, the extreme limitations of such a prominent lot provided great fodder for highly-creative design; the more rules there are, the more innovative one must become to surpass the limitations that they impose. We responded to these limitations with a simply-painted, shingle-clad house that is set apart by a two-story, perfectly elliptical front porch. The curvature of this structure is echoed many times throughout the facade and interior of the house. Pale blue details compliment the natural, often nautical, tones of the interior design work… this is a beach house, after all.

“It was fun to contribute to a tightly controlled environment and still find ways to break the rules, to encourage the development to embrace change in favor of the new and unique.”
